Crémant de Loire Rosé - Château Moncontour

🇫🇷 Wine region: Loire Valley, Touraine, near by the city of Tour.
📍 Appellation: Cremant de Loire
🍇 Grapes: 50% Cabernet Franc / 40% Pinot Noir / 10% Chenin Blanc
🏜 Terroir: Calcareous & Clay-like for the Chenin Blanc as well as sandy soil close to Chinon for the Cabernet Franc.
👨🏻‍🌾 Wine-making: Traditional Method (as in Champagne). Hand Harvested grape. Slow pressing at low pressure and a Must selection during pressing phase. Fermentation in tanks with controlled temperature (17°-18°Celsius) during three weeks. Grapes are pressed and fermented together. Matured at least 12 month on the lies after the second fermentation in bottles. Dosage around 5 g/l.
📝 Tasting notes: Bright pink color, a fresh nose with white and red fresh fruits aromas. On the palate it is quite structured and it tastes like biting into a peach with a wonderful sweet note and slightly spicy finish. This crémant has an harmonious mouth with a nice acidity and fineness
🍽 Food pairing: Party wine, cocktail, Aperitif, frozen desserts, fruit salads
A nice and fresh Crémant! 😋
🏰 The Domaine: Since 1994, with passion and dedication, the Feray family has successfully preserved and enhanced this château, making it one of the remarkable historical sites in the Loire Valley. The vineyard, one of the oldest in Touraine, is now ranked among the most prestigious wine estates in the Loire Valley. The estate spans 130 hectares across the hillside and the valley.
🤓: Partially burned during the French Revolution, the building was restored; then, in 1846, the Touraine writer Honoré de Balzac wished to acquire it, desiring in vain to live there with his ardent admirer and wife, Evelyne Hanska.
On June 10, 1846, he wrote to his wife, and in this letter, the famous phrase could be read: 'Moncontour is my predilection.'
